Ian Niederhoffer is a conductor that faces the audience.

He’s the founder and conductor of Parlando in New York City, an orchestral ensemble whose goal is “to make all classical music, no matter the composer, era, or style, feel familiar. Parlando provides the musical and historical context to prepare every audience member for the music they are about to hear.”

Winner of three prizes at the 2021 Khachaturian International Conducting Competition, Ian will conduct the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra during their 2022-23 season as winner of the Audience Prize. In 2019, he made his European operatic debut conducting two world premieres at the Wiener Kammeroper at the Vienna Summer Music Festival. Other engagements have included conducting Gramercy Opera’s production of Story of an Hour and the Vermont Mozart Festival. He appeared as guest conductor with the Salomé Chamber Orchestra at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
