Violinist Yevgeny Kutik performs world-wide with solo and chamber music performances that balance the well-known violin repertoire with rarely heard and newly composed music.
A native of Minsk, Belarus, Yevgeny Kutik immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of five. His recording, Music from the Suitcase: A Collection of Russian Miniatures features music he found in his family’s suitcase after immigrating to the United States from the Soviet Union in 1990. In the Music from the Suitcase project, Yevgeny tells his story of facing antisemitism and the immigrant experience. “The immigrant lands in this strange world knowing nothing, including what to do next.”
Music from the Suitcase: A Collection of Russian Miniatures will soon become a staged theatrical show, bringing both a writer and director to the updated project.
