No One Reads Press Releases Anymore Part 2
What would happen if, instead of the standard press release, you began your press release by saying this:
Violinist Garry Schumann's new recording was inspired while he was on “hold” attempting to buy New York Knicks tickets at Madison Square Garden.
“I was blown away by the hold music – an achingly beautiful melody in a most powerful performance by a world class violinist. As a professional violinist, I should have known the composer and the title, and I had to know who was playing. I kept calling back to be placed on hold to hear the music so I could figure it all out.”
He later found out that the music was from John Williams’ Schindler’s List,” and the performance was by Itzhak Perlman.
That repeated performance on hold musical experience led Garry Schumann to create this new CD, and to include music of similar sound and expression…

This is a true story, with some minor adjustments to maintain the privacy of the actual violinist.
After reading that type of press release, would you (and one of your current and future audience members) want to hear the new CD and to find out more about Garry Schumann?
Or, would your current and future audience members want to know more about the venues where Garry Schumann had played, the awards he had won, all of the audience acclaim he had received and where he would be performing this season and next?
Everyone has a story to tell. What’s yours?
