Sweating the Small Stuff (again): Donation vs Contribution -- What’s the Difference?

You make a donation to your religious institution, favorite charity, or foundation for the good work they’re doing.

You contribute to an organization to ensure they can continue to do the good work they’re doing. You contribute because what they’re doing is an exciting adventure into the future, and you want to go along for the ride. It’s exciting to those who contribute.

What’s the difference between a donation and a contribution?

You, or your quartet, quintet, or duo are not a charity.

Coda:

A Public Radio listener once told me, “When I contribute, I feel like I’m an owner. And as a owner, I listen more frequently, I listen more intently, and I become even more passionate and committed to the station.”

N. B. Please don’t put your donation or contribution at the top of your website homepage. It’s like paying for something that you know nothing about.

Put the button below the section that tells your summary and story. That way, contributing or donating becomes natural, organic, and logical.

I wrote about this topic during the pandemic. https://bit.ly/45iV9AO
