Remember “Name That Tune?” It’s had various incarnations throughout the years on daytime TV. The announcer would give some clues about the music, and then two contestants would go back and forth, stating how many notes they would need to name that tune. The contestant who thought they could name that tune in the fewest notes won, and had to name that tune.
In this specific context, I’m talking about the fewest number of words to clearly describe a composer’s music, and the fewest number of words to best describe a musician’s performance style and focus.
