"It's your thing...do what you want to do"...but don't do that

Remember Meatloaf?

He had a long career belting out heartfelt Rock n’ Roll – always wearing his emotions on his sleeve.

His career was revived, and put back on top of the Pop and Rock scene with the release of his mega-anthem, “I Would Do Anything for Love.”

The song title says it all, whether we’re talking about love and romance, or being a classical music performer.

But I’m equally drawn to this part of the verse.

I would do anything for love
But I won't do that
Oh, I won't do that.

Here are some “that’s.”

I won’t…

  • Work for Free.

  • Work without a signed agreement.

  • Volunteer my time and resources for more than 40 hours for the year.

  • Begin working without a minimum deposit of 50% of the total project.

  • Rush into working on a project without clearly defining the scope with the client’s full understanding of the deliverables.

  • Start a project until I have all the required items to begin the project – not some, all.

  • Work with people who drain my energy, even if they were referred to me by my best friend.

  • Bite off more than I can chew. (I will ask for help when I need it.)

Could something like that work for you?

Here’s Meatloaf.
