Your "For Your Consideration" Post: Is that it? Is that all you've got?

Missing the point

The “For Your Consideration” notices I’m receiving from musicians and publicists contain just the facts, and only the facts.

However, the Grammy® “For Your Consideration” rules for posting FYC messages state that you can provide…

Brief, unembellished descriptions of the recording or creators.

Here’s how I’m guessing they define “embellished.”

“This is the best recording ever, better than every other recording in this category. And the performers are exceptionally good looking.”

By that definition, an “unembellished” FYC leaves room for you to tell a story.

Who’s your audience? Grammy® Voting Members and friends of Grammy® Voting Members.

You can tell them your recording’s story. That’s how you can grab those audiences attention — if only because the sound, look, and vibe of your FYC post stands apart from the others (in your category).

Story about the music — how it came to be…is it inspired by someone, something, or is it music for music’s sake?

Story about the composer — their compelling life story, or life event; their intentions for the music.

Story about the performers, chamber ensemble, orchestra, or conductor. Their personal artistic statement about the recording.

Everyone has a compelling story to tell, including your Engineer. #bestengineeredalbum,classical2025

Here’s another way to tell a story.
